About Laura Meyer and Acupuncture & Holistic Health,LLC
Laura is a licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. She is board certified by the National Certification for Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (NCCAOM). She earned a 4-year Master’s of Science degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine from Five Branches University in Santa Cruz, California, where she completed over 3,500 hours of training in both Eastern and Western medicine. Her experience includes a prestigious 2 year postgraduate clinical apprenticeship under Dr. Holly Guzman, Doctor of Oriental Medicine. With advanced training in obstetrics and gynecology, Laura focuses on women’s health issues as well as family care, internal medicine, immunology, pediatric wellness, pain and stress management. Laura also has 13 years of experience as a birth doula. She treats the whole family.
Laura is known for her gentle needle technique and for being a compassionate practitioner. She deeply enjoys educating and empowering people to make the changes they want in their health. She believes we are all inherently whole, yet sometimes we need support to manifest our wellness.
She utilizes many acupuncture styles in her practice, including Traditional Chinese Medicine, Japanese Acupuncture and others. Over the last 19 years, Laura has been involved in the health care field in a diverse range of roles. She has been a birth doula, a massage practitioner for people with severe disabilities, a medical assistant, and she has worked within the hospital system.
Laura is a member of the American Acupuncture Council and American Association of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. When she isn’t practicing acupuncture she enjoys gardening and raising her two young boys.
Before being in private practice at Acupuncture & Holistic Health, LLC Laura was part of the True North Health Center medical group for many years. True North is a nonprofit 501(c)(3) health care practice and research organization devoted to integrating state-of-the-art medical care with proven complementary therapies. True North provides a patient-centered environment that allows enough time for a partnership to develop between patient and practitioner. Practitioners offer services that range from family medicine and cutting edge chronic disease management to massage therapy.
